Wills, Bequests and Living Trusts
If you are looking to leave Sojourner Truth House in your will, you are able to do so by adding as little as one sentence in your will to complete your gift:

Beneficiary Gifts Through Retirement Accounts
Naming Sojourner Truth House as a beneficiary is a simple and powerful way to support the life-changing work of our organization without updating your will. All beneficiary gifts pass directly to Sojourner Truth House without going through the probate process. These gifts go right to work to help women and children in northwest Indiana.
- Contact your plan administrator or financial institution for a change of beneficiary form. Or visit the beneficiary page on their website where you can complete the form in just a few minutes.
- On the beneficiary form, decide what percentage (up to 100%) you would us to receive. Please list us as:

Bank Accounts, Investment Accounts, CDs
You can leave a legacy by naming Sojourner Truth House as a Payable-on-Death (POD) or Transfer-on-Death (TOD) beneficiary for any percentage up to 100%. Contact your financial institution for a change of beneficiary form.
The beneficiary you name has no rights to the funds until after your lifetime. You are free to use the money in the account, change the beneficiary, or close the account if you wish.
Gift of Life Insurance
You can name Sojourner Truth House as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy by submitting an updated beneficiary designation form with the policy holder. You can designate us as a primary beneficiary for any percentage up to 100%.
You can also make Sojourner Truth House a contingent beneficiary, which means that we all will receive the balance of your policy only if your primary beneficiary does not survive you.
Gifts of Stocks or Securities
Transferring stock or securities is a meaningful way to help women as they overcome homelessness. If you would like to make a gift of stocks or securities, or if you have any questions on this donation process, please contact us so we can provide the information needed for your broker.
