SOJOURNER TRUTH HOUSE’S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Scott Yahne
Chairperson
Scott Yahne maintains a law practice in Valparaiso and Munster focusing his practice in business and real estate representing clients in a diverse and dynamic blend of business and real estate transactions. Scott was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana and attended R. Nelson Snider High and thereafter, Scott attended Indiana University in Bloomington, BA Political Science, 1989 and JD, 1992.
Scott’s connection to Sojourner Truth House dates back to 2014 when he was asked to consult on a real estate project and thereafter joined the Board of Directors in 2017. Scott also served: as chair Carmelite Home-East Chicago, as a past President and Treasurer of the Lake County Bar Association, member of Board of Governors and Chair of Finance Committee of the Indiana State Bar Association and serves on the Board for Hammond Legal Aid and Hammond Development Corporation.
Scott cherishes the opportunity to serve Sojourner Truth House and those served and his role in contributing to the continued evolution of Sojourner Truth House to meet the enduring need.

Michael Gluszewski
Vice Chairperson
Born and raised in Utica, Michigan, Mike Gluszewski is a dedicated business owner, community leader, and committed family man. A graduate of Valparaiso University, Mike earned his degree while playing football, graduating in 1992. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his first business in 1994, and he is currently the proud owner of Mill Maintenance Services LLC, where he continues to drive success and excellence.
Mike has a deep commitment to his community, serving as a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Chesterton, Indiana. His passion for helping others extends beyond his business ventures, as he is the President of Dunes House, a men’s sober living house in Michigan City, and the Founder and President of Amber’s House, a women’s sober living house in Michigan City, both dedicated to providing support and resources to those in recovery.
Above all, Mike is a devoted husband to his wife, Denise, and a proud father to three children. His life is a testament to hard work, compassion, and a relentless commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around him.

Greg Lee
Secretary
Greg Lee is the Lead Pastor of Suncrest Christian Church. He and his wife Jenny live in Crown Point and have 4 children. He’s been inspired by Sojourner Truth House for over 10 years because of their partnership with Suncrest and has served on the board since 2020. Greg serves because he deeply loves Northwest Indiana and sees STH overcoming enormous obstacles to meet needs among the most vulnerable.

Jodi Allen
Director
Jodi Allen is an assistant professor and the family nurse practitioner program director at Purdue University Northwest. She has been bringing undergraduate nursing and nurse practitioner students to Sojourner Truth House since 2016. Together, Dr. Jodi and her students provide healthcare to the clients of STH. Jodi has been a board member since 2019 and serves because she believes everyone should have the opportunity to be at their best health, without barriers to achieving this.

LaToya DuBose-Lowe, MPA
Director
LaToya DuBose-Lowe is the Director of the Breast and Cervical Cancer Program for the State of Illinois. LaToya and her husband, Lester, reside in Crown Point, and through their blended family, have 7 children. LaToya has served on the Sojourner Truth House Board of Directors since 2017; she serves because she believes in the mission of the organization and is inspired by the work that the leadership and staff put forth daily to serve people in the community who desperately need the services.

Kathy Ireland
Director
Kathy Ireland is a Vice President, Senior Commercial Lending Officer with Horizon Bank. Kathy has over 30 years of diversified financial experience in commercial lending, private banking and investment management, working with privately owned businesses and individuals throughout Northwest Indiana and Chicagoland. Kathy provides a consultative approach to commercial banking, developing relationships in our communities by offering strategic solutions that meet the unique needs of today’s business owners and non-profit leaders.
Kathy is active in the NWI community as a member of the Regional Development Company’s SBA loan committee, a member of the Valparaiso Rotary Club, member of the Crisis Center annual wine fest planning committee, American Heart Association and having served as the Chief Volunteer Officer of the Valparaiso Family YMCA Board of Directors, Board President of The Caring Place Board of Directors.
Kathy holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics with a concentration in Finance from
Northwestern University. She was named the 2019 Influential Woman in Finance by the Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association.

Sr. Annemarie Kampwerth
Director
Sr. Annemarie Kampwerth is a Poor Handmaid of Jesus Christ living in East Chicago . When she was in Provincial leadership in 1997 Sr. Joan Fisher began this ministry in a very simple office in St Mark parish rectory in Gary Indiana. It has now blossomed into the great ministry it is today serving those in need in Gary and in Northwest Indiana. Sr. Annemarie is proud to be a board member of this most needed service.

Kathryn Kniola
Director
Kathy Kniola is a retired human resources and executive development consultant who has been inspired by Sojourner Truth House since she first volunteered over 15 years ago. As a dedicated board member, she believes in the transformative power of support, advocacy, and compassion to empower women and families in our community. Kathy resides in Ogden Dunes with her husband, Tom, and they are proud parents of two adult children.

Candace Dickson
Director
Candace C. Dickson is the Associate Attorney at Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP. She and her husband Jermaine live in Highland and have three children with one on the way. Candace has served on the STH Board since 2019. With the great City of Gary being Candace’s hometown, she is honored to serve as a Board Member for a noteworthy organization like STH that is standing in the gap for those who are unhoused.

Justine Johnson
Justine Johnson (she/her) loves bringing people together to dream a more just world into being. She is most alive when she is gathering with others and gathering mushrooms, preferably together. She currently works for the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in Donaldson, Indiana as the Executive Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Her previous work, including solidarity and belonging work in higher education, connecting social justice communities and nature at retreat centers, and non-violence advocacy, informs how she cultivates wisdom-sharing across and within communities. She’s grateful to STH for all the work they do in the community.
