GARY — Sojourner Truth House (STH), a day center for homeless and at-risk women and children, celebrated its 20th Anniversary by hosting a day of festivities last month.
The ministry welcomed Sisters from the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ and the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Agnes, donors, volunteers and other supporters to its facility at 410 W. 13th Avenue for an open house. Attendees took tours, looked at photos from the past 20 years and enjoyed an afternoon of fellowship. Following the open house, a Celebration Mass was officiated by Bishop Donald J. Hying at the Cathedral of the Holy Angels. The day of celebration culminated with the 20th Anniversary Dinner at Avalon Manor in which more than 250 guests gathered to honor the past, celebrate the present and secure the future of Sojourner Truth House.
Sojourner Truth House was founded in 1997 and is sponsored by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ.
